  1. OS X update for Shortcuts (CVE-2024-40807) Severity 5 CVSS (AV:L/AC:L/Au:S/C:C/I:N/A:N) Published 07/29/2024 Created 07/31/2024 Added 07/31/2024 Modified 01/28/2025 Description A logic issue was addressed with improved checks. This issue is fixed in macOS Sonoma 14.6, macOS Monterey 12.7.6, macOS Ventura 13.6.8. A shortcut may be able to use sensitive data with certain actions without prompting the user. 2. Oracle Linux: CVE-2024-42089: ELSA-2024-12610: Unbreakable Enterprise kernel security update (IMPORTANT) (Multiple Advisories) Severity 5 CVSS (AV:L/AC:L/Au:S/C:N/I:N/A:C) Published 07/29/2024 Created 10/24/2024 Added 10/16/2024 Modified 01/23/2025 Description In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ASoC: fsl-asoc-card: set priv->pdev before using it priv->pdev pointer was set after being used in fsl_asoc_card_audmux_init(). Move this assignment at the start of the probe function, so sub-functions can correctly use pdev through priv. fsl_asoc_card_audmux_init() dereferences priv->pdev to get access to the dev struct, used with dev_err macros. As priv is zero-initialised, there would be a NULL pointer dereference. Note that if priv->dev is dereferenced before assignment but never used, for example if there is no error to be printed, the driver won't crash probably due to compiler optimisations. A flaw was found in the `fsl-asoc-card` driver in the Linux kernel. This issue was fixed by ensuring the `priv->pdev` pointer is initialized before use. Previously, `priv->pdev` was used in the `fsl_asoc_card_audmux_init()` function before being assigned, potentially leading to a NULL pointer dereference and subsequent crashes. 15. Huawei EulerOS: CVE-2024-41090: kernel security update Severity 4 CVSS (AV:L/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P) Published 07/29/2024 Created 11/12/2024 Added 11/11/2024 Modified 11/11/2024 Description In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tap: add missing verification for short frame The cited commit missed to check against the validity of the frame length in the tap_get_user_xdp() path, which could cause a corrupted skb to be sent downstack. Even before the skb is transmitted, the tap_get_user_xdp()-->skb_set_network_header() may assume the size is more than ETH_HLEN. Once transmitted, this could either cause out-of-bound access beyond the actual length, or confuse the underlayer with incorrect or inconsistent header length in the skb metadata. In the alternative path, tap_get_user() already prohibits short frame which has the length less than Ethernet header size from being transmitted. This is to drop any frame shorter than the Ethernet header size just like how tap_get_user() does. 22. Ubuntu: (Multiple Advisories) (CVE-2024-42090): Linux kernel vulnerabilities Severity 5 CVSS (AV:L/AC:L/Au:S/C:N/I:N/A:C) Published 07/29/2024 Created 09/14/2024 Added 09/13/2024 Modified 01/28/2025 Description In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: pinctrl: fix deadlock in create_pinctrl() when handling -EPROBE_DEFER In create_pinctrl(), pinctrl_maps_mutex is acquired before calling add_setting(). If add_setting() returns -EPROBE_DEFER, create_pinctrl() calls pinctrl_free(). However, pinctrl_free() attempts to acquire pinctrl_maps_mutex, which is already held by create_pinctrl(), leading to a potential deadlock. This patch resolves the issue by releasing pinctrl_maps_mutex before calling pinctrl_free(), preventing the deadlock. 23. Ubuntu: (Multiple Advisories) (CVE-2024-42088): Linux kernel kernel vulnerabilities Severity 4 CVSS (AV:L/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P) Published 07/29/2024 Created 11/05/2024 Added 11/04/2024 Modified 01/23/2025 Description In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ASoC: mediatek: mt8195: Add platform entry for ETDM1_OUT_BE dai link Commit e70b8dd26711 ("ASoC: mediatek: mt8195: Remove afe-dai component and rework codec link") removed the codec entry for the ETDM1_OUT_BE dai link entirely instead of replacing it with COMP_EMPTY(). This worked by accident as the remaining COMP_EMPTY() platform entry became the codec entry, and the platform entry became completely empty, effectively the same as COMP_DUMMY() since snd_soc_fill_dummy_dai() doesn't do anything for platform entries. This causes a KASAN out-of-bounds warning in mtk_soundcard_common_probe() in sound/soc/mediatek/common/mtk-soundcard-driver.c: for_each_card_prelinks(card, i, dai_link) { if (adsp_node && !strncmp(dai_link->name, "AFE_SOF", strlen("AFE_SOF"))) dai_link->platforms->of_node = adsp_node; else if (!dai_link->platforms->name && !dai_link->platforms->of_node) dai_link->platforms->of_node = platform_node; } where the code expects the platforms array to have space for at least one entry. Add an COMP_EMPTY() entry so that dai_link->platforms has space. 24. Ubuntu: (Multiple Advisories) (CVE-2024-42089): Linux kernel vulnerabilities Severity 4 CVSS (AV:L/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P) Published 07/29/2024 Created 09/14/2024 Added 09/13/2024 Modified 02/06/2025 Description In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ASoC: fsl-asoc-card: set priv->pdev before using it priv->pdev pointer was set after being used in fsl_asoc_card_audmux_init().
