Debian: CVE-2024-26857: linux -- security update Severity 4 CVSS (AV:L/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P) Published 04/17/2024 Created 05/08/2024 Added 05/08/2024 Modified 07/03/2024 Description In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: geneve: make sure to pull inner header in geneve_rx() syzbot triggered a bug in geneve_rx() [1] Issue is similar to the one I fixed in commit 8d975c15c0cd ("ip6_tunnel: make sure to pull inner header in __ip6_tnl_rcv()") We have to save skb->network_header in a temporary variable in order to be able to recompute the network_header pointer after a pskb_inet_may_pull() call. pskb_inet_may_pull() makes sure the needed headers are in skb->head. Debian: CVE-2024-26856: linux -- security update Severity 4 CVSS (AV:L/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P) Published 04/17/2024 Created 07/31/2024 Added 07/30/2024 Modified 07/30/2024 Description In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: sparx5: Fix use after free inside sparx5_del_mact_entry Based on the static analyzis of the code it looks like when an entry from the MAC table was removed, the entry was still used after being freed. More precise the vid of the mac_entry was used after calling devm_kfree on the mac_entry. The fix consists in first using the vid of the mac_entry to delete the entry from the HW and after that to free it. Debian: CVE-2024-26870: linux -- security update Severity 4 CVSS (AV:L/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P) Published 04/17/2024 Created 05/08/2024 Added 05/08/2024 Modified 07/03/2024 Description In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: NFSv4.2: fix nfs4_listxattr kernel BUG at mm/usercopy.c:102 A call to listxattr() with a buffer size = 0 returns the actual size of the buffer needed for a subsequent call. 7. Debian: CVE-2024-26883: linux -- security update Severity 7 CVSS (AV:L/AC:L/Au:S/C:C/I:C/A:C) Published 04/17/2024 Created 05/08/2024 Added 05/08/2024 Modified 01/28/2025 Description In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Fix stackmap overflow check on 32-bit arches The stackmap code relies on roundup_pow_of_two() to compute the number of hash buckets, and contains an overflow check by checking if the resulting value is 0. However, on 32-bit arches, the roundup code itself can overflow by doing a 32-bit left-shift of an unsigned long value, which is undefined behaviour, so it is not guaranteed to truncate neatly. This was triggered by syzbot on the DEVMAP_HASH type, which contains the same check, copied from the hashtab code. The commit in the fixes tag actually attempted to fix this, but the fix did not account for the UB, so the fix only works on CPUs where an overflow does result in a neat truncation to zero, which is not guaranteed. Checking the value before rounding does not have this problem. Solution(s) debian-upgrade-linux References https://attackerkb.com/topics/cve-2024-26883 CVE - 2024-26883 DSA-5681-1
8. Debian: CVE-2024-26897: linux -- security update Severity 4 CVSS (AV:L/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P) Published 04/17/2024 Created 05/08/2024 Added 05/08/2024 Modified 07/03/2024 Description In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath9k: delay all of ath9k_wmi_event_tasklet() until init is complete The ath9k_wmi_event_tasklet() used in ath9k_htc assumes that all the data structures have been fully initialised by the time it runs. However, because of the order in which things are initialised, this is not guaranteed to be the case, because the device is exposed to the USB subsystem before the ath9k driver initialisation is completed. We already committed a partial fix for this in commit: 8b3046abc99e ("ath9k_htc: fix NULL pointer dereference at ath9k_htc_tx_get_packet()") However, that commit only aborted the WMI_TXSTATUS_EVENTID command in the event tasklet, pairing it with an "initialisation complete" bit in the TX struct. It seems syzbot managed to trigger the race for one of the other commands as well, so let's just move the existing synchronisation bit to cover the whole tasklet (setting it at the end of ath9k_htc_probe_device() instead of inside ath9k_tx_init()). This is because we register register_netdevice_notifier() very early( even before vmbus_driver_register()). To fix this, we try to register each such matching VF( if it is visible as a netdevice) at the end of netvsc_probe. However, __read_swap_cache_async() returns the folio locked when it is newly allocated, which is always true for this path, and the folio is ref'd.Make sure to unlock and put the folio before returning. This was discovered by code inspection, probably because this path handles a race condition that should not happen often, and the bug would not crash the system, it will only strand the folio indefinitely. Amazon Linux 2023: CVE-2024-26832: Medium priority package update for kernel (Multiple Advisories) Severity 5 CVSS (AV:L/AC:L/Au:S/C:N/I:N/A:C) Published 04/17/2024 Created 02/14/2025 Added 02/14/2025 Modified 02/14/2025 Description In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mm: zswap: fix missing folio cleanup in writeback race path In zswap_writeback_entry(), after we get a folio from __read_swap_cache_async(), we grab the tree lock again to check that the swap entry was not invalidated and recycled. If it was, we delete the folio we just added to the swap cache and exit. A flaw was found in the Linux kernel’s `mm: zswap` subsystem. The issue occurs due to missing folio cleanup in the writeback race path. This flaw can lead to resource leaks or other unintended behaviors if the kernel fails to manage memory correctly during concurrent operations. I also spot checked all the other instances of checking mirror_ds and we appear to be doing the correct checks everywhere, only unconditionally dereferencing mirror_ds when we know it would be valid. A vulnerability was found in the ff_layout_cancel_io() function in the Linux kernel. Improper error checking with the mirror_ds structure fails to check if it is NULL, leading to a potential NULL pointer dereference. This issue could lead to crashes. Amazon Linux 2023: CVE-2024-26860: Important priority package update for kernel Severity 6 CVSS (AV:L/AC:L/Au:M/C:C/I:N/A:C) Published 04/17/2024 Created 02/14/2025 Added 02/14/2025 Modified 02/14/2025 Description In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dm-integrity: fix a memory leak when rechecking the data Memory for the "checksums" pointer will leak if the data is rechecked after checksum failure (because the associated kfree won't happen due to 'goto skip_io'). Fix this by freeing the checksums memory before recheck, and just use the "checksum_onstack" memory for storing checksum during recheck.
