Amazon Linux AMI 2: CVE-2024-2496: Security patch for libvirt (ALAS-2024-2513) Severity 4 CVSS (AV:L/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P) Published 03/18/2024 Created 04/19/2024 Added 04/19/2024 Modified 04/19/2024 Description A NULL pointer dereference flaw was found in the udevConnectListAllInterfaces() function in libvirt. This issue can occur when detaching a host interface while at the same time collecting the list of interfaces via virConnectListAllInterfaces API. This flaw could be used to perform a denial of service attack by causing the libvirt daemon to crash. 2. VMware Photon OS: CVE-2024-26635 Severity 4 CVSS (AV:L/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P) Published 03/18/2024 Created 01/21/2025 Added 01/20/2025 Modified 01/20/2025 Description In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: llc: Drop support for ETH_P_TR_802_2. syzbot reported an uninit-value bug below. [0] llc supports ETH_P_802_2 (0x0004) and used to support ETH_P_TR_802_2 (0x0011), and syzbot abused the latter to trigger the bug. write$tun(r0, &(0x7f0000000040)={@val={0x0, 0x11}, @val, @mpls={[], @llc={@snap={0xaa, 0x1, ')', "90e5dd"}}}}, 0x16) llc_conn_handler() initialises local variables {saddr, daddr}.mac based on skb in llc_pdu_decode_sa()/llc_pdu_decode_da() and passes them to __llc_lookup(). However, the initialisation is done only when skb->protocol is htons(ETH_P_802_2), otherwise, __llc_lookup_established() and __llc_lookup_listener() will read garbage. The missing initialisation existed prior to commit 211ed865108e ("net: delete all instances of special processing for token ring"). It removed the part to kick out the token ring stuff but forgot to close the door allowing ETH_P_TR_802_2 packets to sneak into llc_rcv(). Let's remove llc_tr_packet_type and complete the deprecation. 5. Amazon Linux 2023: CVE-2024-26634: Important priority package update for kernel Severity 5 CVSS (AV:L/AC:L/Au:S/C:N/I:N/A:C) Published 03/18/2024 Created 02/14/2025 Added 02/14/2025 Modified 02/14/2025 Description In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: fix removing a namespace with conflicting altnames Mark reports a BUG() when a net namespace is removed. kernel BUG at net/core/dev.c:11520! Physical interfaces moved outside of init_net get "refunded" to init_net when that namespace disappears. The main interface name may get overwritten in the process if it would have conflicted. We need to also discard all conflicting altnames. Recent fixes addressed ensuring that altnames get moved with the main interface, which surfaced this problem. A vulnerability was found innetwork subsystem of Linux Kernel causing a system crash when removing a network namespace with conflicting alternate names. When physical interfaces are moved back to the initial namespace, the main interface name could be overwritten if it conflicts, but conflicting alternate names were not properly discarded, leading to DoS. A malicious Containerfile can use a dummy image with a symbolic link to the root filesystem as a mount source and cause the mount operation to mount the host root filesystem inside the RUN step. Rocky Linux: CVE-2023-52610: kernel-rt (Multiple Advisories) Severity 4 CVSS (AV:L/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P) Published 03/18/2024 Created 06/17/2024 Added 06/17/2024 Modified 11/18/2024 Description In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/sched: act_ct: fix skb leak and crash on ooo frags act_ct adds skb->users before defragmentation. If frags arrive in order, the last frag's reference is reset in: inet_frag_reasm_prepare skb_morph which is not straightforward. However when frags arrive out of order, nobody unref the last frag, and all frags are leaked. The situation is even worse, as initiating packet capture can lead to a crash[0] when skb has been cloned and shared at the same time. Ubuntu: USN-6790-1 (CVE-2024-28054): amavisd-new vulnerability Severity 4 CVSS (AV:L/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P) Published 03/18/2024 Created 06/07/2024 Added 06/06/2024 Modified 10/23/2024 Description Amavis before 2.12.3 and 2.13.x before 2.13.1, in part because of its use of MIME-tools, has an Interpretation Conflict (relative to some mail user agents) when there are multiple boundary parameters in a MIME email message. Consequently, there can be an incorrect check for banned files or malware. Solution(s) ubuntu-upgrade-amavisd-new References https://attackerkb.com/topics/cve-2024-28054 CVE - 2024-28054 USN-6790-1
  24. Alma Linux: CVE-2024-1753: Important: container-tools:4.0 security update (Multiple Advisories) Severity 4 CVSS (AV:L/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P) Published 03/18/2024 Created 04/30/2024 Added 04/30/2024 Modified 09/18/2024 Description A flaw was found in Buildah (and subsequently Podman Build) which allows containers to mount arbitrary locations on the host filesystem into build containers. A malicious Containerfile can use a dummy image with a symbolic link to the root filesystem as a mount source and cause the mount operation to mount the host root filesystem inside the RUN step. The commands inside the RUN step will then have read-write access to the host filesystem, allowing for full container escape at build time. 25. Huawei EulerOS: CVE-2024-26635: kernel security update Severity 4 CVSS (AV:L/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P) Published 03/18/2024 Created 07/23/2024 Added 07/23/2024 Modified 10/08/2024 Description In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: llc: Drop support for ETH_P_TR_802_2. syzbot reported an uninit-value bug below.
