Debian: CVE-2023-52502: linux -- security update Severity 4 CVSS (AV:L/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P) Published 03/02/2024 Created 07/31/2024 Added 07/30/2024 Modified 07/30/2024 Description In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: nfc: fix races in nfc_llcp_sock_get() and nfc_llcp_sock_get_sn() Sili Luo reported a race in nfc_llcp_sock_get(), leading to UAF. Getting a reference on the socket found in a lookup while holding a lock should happen before releasing the lock. nfc_llcp_sock_get_sn() has a similar problem. Finally nfc_llcp_recv_snl() needs to make sure the socket found by nfc_llcp_sock_from_sn() does not disappear. SUSE: CVE-2023-52531: SUSE Linux Security Advisory
SUSE: CVE-2023-52531: SUSE Linux Security Advisory Severity 7 CVSS (AV:L/AC:L/Au:S/C:C/I:C/A:C) Published 03/02/2024 Created 03/14/2024 Added 03/13/2024 Modified 01/28/2025 Description In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: iwlwifi: mvm: Fix a memory corruption issue A few lines above, space is kzalloc()'ed for: sizeof(struct iwl_nvm_data) + sizeof(struct ieee80211_channel) + sizeof(struct ieee80211_rate) 'mvm->nvm_data' is a 'struct iwl_nvm_data', so it is fine. At the end of this structure, there is the 'channels' flex array. Each element is of type 'struct ieee80211_channel'. So only 1 element is allocated in this array. When doing: mvm->nvm_data->bands[0].channels = mvm->nvm_data->channels; We point at the first element of the 'channels' flex array. So this is fine. However, when doing: mvm->nvm_data->bands[0].bitrates = (void *)((u8 *)mvm->nvm_data->channels + 1); because of the "(u8 *)" cast, we add only 1 to the address of the beginning of the flex array. It is likely that we want point at the 'struct ieee80211_rate' allocated just after. Remove the spurious casting so that the pointer arithmetic works as expected. Debian: CVE-2023-52566: linux -- security update Severity 4 CVSS (AV:L/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P) Published 03/02/2024 Created 07/31/2024 Added 07/30/2024 Modified 07/30/2024 Description In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nilfs2: fix potential use after free in nilfs_gccache_submit_read_data() In nilfs_gccache_submit_read_data(), brelse(bh) is called to drop the reference count of bh when the call to nilfs_dat_translate() fails. If the reference count hits 0 and its owner page gets unlocked, bh may be freed. However, bh->b_page is dereferenced to put the page after that, which may result in a use-after-free bug. This patch moves the release operation after unlocking and putting the page. NOTE: The function in question is only called in GC, and in combination with current userland tools, address translation using DAT does not occur in that function, so the code path that causes this issue will not be executed. However, it is possible to run that code path by intentionally modifying the userland GC library or by calling the GC ioctl directly. Debian: CVE-2023-52576: linux -- security update
Debian: CVE-2023-52576: linux -- security update Severity 4 CVSS (AV:L/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P) Published 03/02/2024 Created 07/31/2024 Added 07/30/2024 Modified 07/30/2024 Description In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: x86/mm, kexec, ima: Use memblock_free_late() from ima_free_kexec_buffer() The code calling ima_free_kexec_buffer() runs long after the memblock allocator has already been torn down, potentially resulting in a use after free in memblock_isolate_range(). With KASAN or KFENCE, this use after free will result in a BUG from the idle task, and a subsequent kernel panic. Switch ima_free_kexec_buffer() over to memblock_free_late() to avoid that bug. Debian: CVE-2023-52531: linux -- security update
Debian: CVE-2023-52531: linux -- security update Severity 7 CVSS (AV:L/AC:L/Au:S/C:C/I:C/A:C) Published 03/02/2024 Created 07/31/2024 Added 07/30/2024 Modified 01/30/2025 Description In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: iwlwifi: mvm: Fix a memory corruption issue A few lines above, space is kzalloc()'ed for: sizeof(struct iwl_nvm_data) + sizeof(struct ieee80211_channel) + sizeof(struct ieee80211_rate) 'mvm->nvm_data' is a 'struct iwl_nvm_data', so it is fine. Rocky Linux: CVE-2023-52513: kernel-rt (Multiple Advisories)
Rocky Linux: CVE-2023-52513: kernel-rt (Multiple Advisories) Severity 5 CVSS (AV:L/AC:L/Au:S/C:N/I:N/A:C) Published 03/02/2024 Created 06/17/2024 Added 06/17/2024 Modified 01/28/2025 Description In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: RDMA/siw: Fix connection failure handling In case immediate MPA request processing fails, the newly created endpoint unlinks the listening endpoint and is ready to be dropped. This special case was not handled correctly by the code handling the later TCP socket close, causing a NULL dereference crash in siw_cm_work_handler() when dereferencing a NULL listener. We now also cancel the useless MPA timeout, if immediate MPA request processing fails. This patch furthermore simplifies MPA processing in general: Scheduling a useless TCP socket read in sk_data_ready() upcall is now surpressed, if the socket is already moved out of TCP_ESTABLISHED state. Huawei EulerOS: CVE-2023-52504: kernel security update
Huawei EulerOS: CVE-2023-52504: kernel security update Severity 6 CVSS (AV:L/AC:L/Au:S/C:C/I:N/A:C) Published 03/02/2024 Created 05/10/2024 Added 05/13/2024 Modified 01/28/2025 Description In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: x86/alternatives: Disable KASAN in apply_alternatives() Fei has reported that KASAN triggers during apply_alternatives() on a 5-level paging machine: BUG: KASAN: out-of-bounds in rcu_is_watching() Read of size 4 at addr ff110003ee6419a0 by task swapper/0/0 ... __asan_load4() rcu_is_watching() trace_hardirqs_on() text_poke_early() apply_alternatives() ... On machines with 5-level paging, cpu_feature_enabled(X86_FEATURE_LA57) gets patched. It includes KASAN code, where KASAN_SHADOW_START depends on __VIRTUAL_MASK_SHIFT, which is defined with cpu_feature_enabled(). KASAN gets confused when apply_alternatives() patches the KASAN_SHADOW_START users. A test patch that makes KASAN_SHADOW_START static, by replacing __VIRTUAL_MASK_SHIFT with 56, works around the issue. Fix it for real by disabling KASAN while the kernel is patching alternatives. Hence, SCSI abort handlers must not call scsi_done(). Otherwise all the above actions would trigger a use-after-free. Hence remove the scsi_done() call from srp_abort().
