VMware Photon OS: CVE-2021-46933
VMware Photon OS: CVE-2021-46933 Severity 5 CVSS (AV:L/AC:L/Au:S/C:N/I:N/A:C) Published 02/27/2024 Created 01/21/2025 Added 01/20/2025 Modified 02/04/2025 Description In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: gadget: f_fs: Clear ffs_eventfd in ffs_data_clear. ffs_data_clear is indirectly called from both ffs_fs_kill_sb and ffs_ep0_release, so it ends up being called twice when userland closes ep0 and then unmounts f_fs. If userland provided an eventfd along with function's USB descriptors, it ends up calling eventfd_ctx_put as many times, causing a refcount underflow. NULL-ify ffs_eventfd to prevent these extraneous eventfd_ctx_put calls. Also, set epfiles to NULL right after de-allocating it, for readability. For completeness, ffs_data_clear actually ends up being called thrice, the last call being before the whole ffs structure gets freed, so when this specific sequence happens there is a second underflow happening (but not being reported): /sys/kernel/debug/tracing# modprobe usb_f_fs /sys/kernel/debug/tracing# echo ffs_data_clear > set_ftrace_filter /sys/kernel/debug/tracing# echo function > current_tracer /sys/kernel/debug/tracing# echo 1 > tracing_on (setup gadget, run and kill function userland process, teardown gadget) /sys/kernel/debug/tracing# echo 0 > tracing_on /sys/kernel/debug/tracing# cat trace smartcard-openp-436 [000] .....1946.208786: ffs_data_clear <-ffs_data_closed smartcard-openp-431 [000] .....1946.279147: ffs_data_clear <-ffs_data_closed smartcard-openp-431 [000] .n...1946.905512: ffs_data_clear <-ffs_data_put Warning output corresponding to above trace: [ 1946.284139] WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 431 at lib/refcount.c:28 refcount_warn_saturate+0x110/0x15c [ 1946.293094] refcount_t: underflow; use-after-free. Huawei EulerOS: CVE-2021-46928: kernel security update
Huawei EulerOS: CVE-2021-46928: kernel security update Severity 5 CVSS (AV:L/AC:L/Au:S/C:N/I:N/A:C) Published 02/27/2024 Created 07/23/2024 Added 07/23/2024 Modified 01/30/2025 Description In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: parisc: Clear stale IIR value on instruction access rights trap When a trap 7 (Instruction access rights) occurs, this means the CPU couldn't execute an instruction due to missing execute permissions on the memory region. In this case it seems the CPU didn't even fetched the instruction from memory and thus did not store it in the cr19 (IIR) register before calling the trap handler. So, the trap handler will find some random old stale value in cr19. This patch simply overwrites the stale IIR value with a constant magic "bad food" value (0xbaadf00d), in the hope people don't start to try to understand the various random IIR values in trap 7 dumps. Huawei EulerOS: CVE-2021-46939: kernel security update Severity 5 CVSS (AV:L/AC:L/Au:S/C:N/I:N/A:C) Published 02/27/2024 Created 07/23/2024 Added 07/23/2024 Modified 01/30/2025 Description In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tracing: Restructure trace_clock_global() to never block It was reported that a fix to the ring buffer recursion detection would cause a hung machine when performing suspend / resume testing. Restructure the trace_clock_global() code to instead of simply taking a lock to update the recorded "prev_time" simply use it, as two events happening on two different CPUs that calls this at the same time, really doesn't matter which one goes first. Use a trylock to grab the lock for updating the prev_time, and if it fails, simply try again the next time. If it failed to be taken, that means something else is already updating it. Huawei EulerOS: CVE-2021-46945: kernel security update
Huawei EulerOS: CVE-2021-46945: kernel security update Severity 5 CVSS (AV:L/AC:L/Au:S/C:N/I:N/A:C) Published 02/27/2024 Created 07/23/2024 Added 07/23/2024 Modified 01/30/2025 Description In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ext4: always panic when errors=panic is specified Before commit 014c9caa29d3 ("ext4: make ext4_abort() use __ext4_error()"), the following series of commands would trigger a panic: 1. mount /dev/sda -o ro,errors=panic test 2. mount /dev/sda -o remount, abort test After commit 014c9caa29d3, remounting a file system using the test mount option "abort" will no longer trigger a panic. This commit will restore the behaviour immediately before commit 014c9caa29d3. (However, note that the Linux kernel's behavior has not been consistent; some previous kernel versions, including 5.4 and 4.19 similarly did not panic after using the mount option "abort".) This also makes a change to long-standing behaviour; namely, the following series commands will now cause a panic, when previously it did not: 1. mount /dev/sda -o ro,errors=panic test 2. echo test > /sys/fs/ext4/sda/trigger_fs_error However, this makes ext4's behaviour much more consistent, so this is a good thing. BUG: unable to handle page fault for address: ffffde49a863de28 PGD 7e6fe62067 P4D 7e6fe62067 PUD 7e6fe63067 PMD f51e064067 PTE 0 RIP: 0010:tw_timer_handler+0x20/0x40 Call Trace: <IRQ> call_timer_fn+0x2b/0x120 run_timer_softirq+0x1ef/0x450 __do_softirq+0x10d/0x2b8 irq_exit+0xc7/0xd0 smp_apic_timer_interrupt+0x68/0x120 apic_timer_interrupt+0xf/0x20 This issue was also reported since 2017 in the thread [1], unfortunately, the issue was still can be reproduced after fixing DCCP. The ipv4_mib_exit_net is called before tcp_sk_exit_batch when a net namespace is destroyed since tcp_sk_ops is registered befrore ipv4_mib_ops, which means tcp_sk_ops is in the front of ipv4_mib_ops in the list of pernet_list. There will be a use-after-free on net->mib.net_statistics in tw_timer_handler after ipv4_mib_exit_net if there are some inflight time-wait timers. This bug is not introduced by commit f2bf415cfed7 ("mib: add net to NET_ADD_STATS_BH") since the net_statistics is a global variable instead of dynamic allocation and freeing. Actually, commit 61a7e26028b9 ("mib: put net statistics on struct net") introduces the bug since it put net statistics on struct net and free it when net namespace is destroyed. Moving init_ipv4_mibs() to the front of tcp_init() to fix this bug and replace pr_crit() with panic() since continuing is meaningless when init_ipv4_mibs() fails. To prevent the sk free, as a holder of the sk, ep should be alive when calling lock_sock(). This patch uses call_rcu() and moves sock_put and ep free into sctp_endpoint_destroy_rcu(), so that it's safe to try to hold the ep under rcu_read_lock in sctp_transport_traverse_process(). If sctp_endpoint_hold() returns true, it means this ep is still alive and we have held it and can continue to dump it; If it returns false, it means this ep is dead and can be freed after rcu_read_unlock, and we should skip it. In sctp_sock_dump(), after locking the sk, if this ep is different from tsp->asoc->ep, it means during this dumping, this asoc was peeled off before calling lock_sock(), and the sk should be skipped; If this ep is the same with tsp->asoc->ep, it means no peeloff happens on this asoc, and due to lock_sock, no peeloff will happen either until release_sock. Note that delaying endpoint free won't delay the port release, as the port release happens in sctp_endpoint_destroy() before calling call_rcu(). Also, freeing endpoint by call_rcu() makes it safe to access the sk by asoc->base.sk in sctp_assocs_seq_show() and sctp_rcv(). Thanks Jones to bring this issue up. v1->v2: - improve the changelog. - add kfree(ep) into sctp_endpoint_destroy_rcu(), as Jakub noticed. VMware Photon OS: CVE-2021-46928 Severity 5 CVSS (AV:L/AC:L/Au:S/C:N/I:N/A:C) Published 02/27/2024 Created 01/21/2025 Added 01/20/2025 Modified 02/04/2025 Description In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: parisc: Clear stale IIR value on instruction access rights trap When a trap 7 (Instruction access rights) occurs, this means the CPU couldn't execute an instruction due to missing execute permissions on the memory region. Huawei EulerOS: CVE-2021-46932: kernel security update Severity 5 CVSS (AV:L/AC:L/Au:S/C:N/I:N/A:C) Published 02/27/2024 Created 07/16/2024 Added 07/16/2024 Modified 01/28/2025 Description In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Input: appletouch - initialize work before device registration Syzbot has reported warning in __flush_work(). This warning is caused by work->func == NULL, which means missing work initialization. This may happen, since input_dev->close() calls cancel_work_sync(&dev->work), but dev->work initalization happens _after_ input_register_device() call. So this patch moves dev->work initialization before registering input device Solution(s) huawei-euleros-2_0_sp10-upgrade-kernel huawei-euleros-2_0_sp10-upgrade-kernel-abi-stablelists huawei-euleros-2_0_sp10-upgrade-kernel-tools huawei-euleros-2_0_sp10-upgrade-kernel-tools-libs huawei-euleros-2_0_sp10-upgrade-python3-perf References https://attackerkb.com/topics/cve-2021-46932 CVE - 2021-46932 EulerOS-SA-2024-1911

Debian: CVE-2021-46968: linux -- security update
Debian: CVE-2021-46968: linux -- security update Severity 5 CVSS (AV:L/AC:L/Au:S/C:N/I:N/A:C) Published 02/27/2024 Created 07/31/2024 Added 07/30/2024 Modified 01/28/2025 Description In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: s390/zcrypt: fix zcard and zqueue hot-unplug memleak Tests with kvm and a kmemdebug kernel showed, that on hot unplug the zcard and zqueue structs for the unplugged card or queue are not properly freed because of a mismatch with get/put for the embedded kref counter. This fix now adjusts the handling of the kref counters. With init the kref counter starts with 1. This initial value needs to drop to zero with the unregister of the card or queue to trigger the release and free the object. Debian: CVE-2021-46912: linux -- security update
Debian: CVE-2021-46912: linux -- security update Severity 5 CVSS (AV:L/AC:L/Au:S/C:N/I:N/A:C) Published 02/27/2024 Created 07/31/2024 Added 07/30/2024 Modified 01/30/2025 Description In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: Make tcp_allowed_congestion_control readonly in non-init netns Currently, tcp_allowed_congestion_control is global and writable; writing to it in any net namespace will leak into all other net namespaces. tcp_available_congestion_control and tcp_allowed_congestion_control are the only sysctls in ipv4_net_table (the per-netns sysctl table) with a NULL data pointer; their handlers (proc_tcp_available_congestion_control and proc_allowed_congestion_control) have no other way of referencing a struct net. Thus, they operate globally. Because ipv4_net_table does not use designated initializers, there is no easy way to fix up this one "bad" table entry. However, the data pointer updating logic shouldn't be applied to NULL pointers anyway, so we instead force these entries to be read-only. These sysctls used to exist in ipv4_table (init-net only), but they were moved to the per-net ipv4_net_table, presumably without realizing that tcp_allowed_congestion_control was writable and thus introduced a leak. Because the intent of that commit was only to know (i.e. read) "which congestion algorithms are available or allowed", this read-only solution should be sufficient. The logic added in recent commit 31c4d2f160eb: ("net: Ensure net namespace isolation of sysctls") does not and cannot check for NULL data pointers, because other table entries (e.g. /proc/sys/net/netfilter/nf_log/) have .data=NULL but use other methods (.extra2) to access the struct net. From the call trace, we can find three interrupts (noted A, B, C above): interrupt (A) is preempted by (B), which is further interrupted by (C). Subsequent investigations show that (B) results in nmi_enter() being called, but that it actually is a spurious interrupt. Furthermore, interrupts are reenabled in the context of (B), and (C) fires with NMI priority. We end-up with a nested NMI situation, something we definitely do not want to (and cannot) handle. The bug here is that spurious interrupts should never result in any state change, and we should just return to the interrupted context. Moving the handling of spurious interrupts as early as possible in the GICv3 handler fixes this issue.
